We are now part of City St George's, University of London. This website contains information relating to our Tooting Library. We have a separate library site which covers our Northampton Square, Business and Law libraries.

We offer access to a wide range of information resources to support your learning, teaching, research,  clinical  practice and organizational development needs.

You can find e-books, books, journals and more using Hunter. To find more material, we provide access to specialist healthcare databases and search engines.

Finding material in the library

You can use Hunter to search our collection and find:

  • books and e-books
  • journals and articles
  • more information, such as DVDs and theses.

Read the Hunter FAQs for information on how to search and access material. University online journals on Hunter are not available offsite to our NHS users unless they have a joint contract with the University.

To see lists of specialist collections of books on a variety of topics such as EDI,  well-being, LGBTQ+ and more, visit our Hunter collections.

Reading lists

Check your Canvas module for a link to 'My Reading List', a reading list system at St George's which help you find books, chapters, journal articles and other resources recommended by your course teams to support your studies.

Print books

To find a print book in the library, you will need to take note of the book’s call number, which will be listed in the item record in Hunter. This will be a series of letters and numbers which correspond with the location of the book on the shelves. The call number will be listed on the spine of the book.

Use the self-service machines in the library to borrow books.

Print journals

Most of our journals are available electronically.

Back issues of our print collection are located in the silent study. These issues are reference only.

Finding more sources of information

You can search all of the journals we subscribe to using Hunter. For more in-depth literature searching, use our databases. In the A-Z databases listyou will find a range of specialist search platforms such as OvidSP and EBSCOhost, as well as evidence-based point of care tools and the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub for NHS staff.

Accessing material not in our collections

If you have checked Hunter and our A-Z journals list and haven’t been able to find the book or journal that you are looking for, you may be able to source the item yourself from another library.

You can also request the item from another library using our interlibrary loans service.

If you think it is a book that we should have in the library, you are welcome to suggest a bookfor us to purchase.
