Getting Results: Finding healthcare literature for your learning or research

Course outline
This session is for SGUL/FHSCE students and staff who are carrying out more in-depth research, such as for a literature review, dissertation, research project etc.

At the end of this session you will be able to:
•    Create and plan a search strategy using keywords and Subject Headings
•    Use the search strategy in the databases such as Medline, Embase, or CINAHL
•    Know how to refine your results to make them more relevant
•    Save your search and set up alerts to help keep you up-to-date with your topic

Prerequisites for this course:
Familiarity with the basics of searching for/finding journal articles

Who is this course for ?
SGUL or FHSCE staff and students, who have some experience with the basics of research/literature searching and wish to explore more resources for their research. NHS staff should attend the Finding the Evidence session for similar support.

Getting Started with Twitter

This session is aimed at those new to, or considering using Twitter but want to know more first. We will give you an overview of how Twitter works, discuss why you might want to use it and offer a hands-on practical workshop to explore this growing social media platform. The session will particularly focus on how Twitter can be used in a professional context.
